Accessibility Statement

This document outlines the accessibility features implemented into this site as well as illustrating any limitations the site may have, and identifying any recommendations for optimal viewing.

Resolution

The minimum supported resolution for this site in visual browsers is 640x480 with 16 colours (the site is also navigable in grayscale).

The recommended resolution for viewing this site in visual browsers is 800x600 in 32bit colour.

Visual Design

This site makes use of the following visual design features:

  • This site uses CSS for visual layout. For optimal viewing, it is recommended that you use a browser with CSS2 support, such as Internet Explorer 5.5 or better, or Mozilla Firefox. The site has been tested and is functional in Internet Explorer 4.01, 5.01, 5.5, 6 and Mozilla Firefox 0.8.
  • This site uses relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers. The recommended "text size" for viewing this site in a visual browser is medium or 100%.
  • If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets, the content of each page will still be readable.
  • The first time an abbreviation or an acronym is used in a page, it is identified with either an <abbr> tag or an <acronym> tag respectively. This displays as a dotted or a dashed underline in visual browsers. When the user places their pointer over an <abbr> or an <acronym>, a tooltip will display the corresponding definition.

Access Keys

Most browsers provide support for jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows and Linux, you can press (and hold) Alt + an access key; on MacOS, you can press (and hold) Control + an access key. Please note, to access your browsers File menu, you should press and release the Alt key before pressing the shortcut key.

All pages on this site define the following access keys:

  • Access key 1: Home
  • Access key a: Accessibilty
  • Access key o: Our practice
  • Access key i: Patient information
  • Access key s: Services

Standards Compliance

It is my belief that standards compliance is an integral part of creating functional and accessible websites. As a result, the pages on this site adhere to the following standards:

  • All pages on this site are Bobby AAA approved, complying with all the Bobby guidelines. This is based on my own determination; many accessibility features can be measured, but many can not. All the pages in this site have been reviewed using the guidelines, and I believe they are all in compliance.
  • All pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.1 Strict. This is not a determination; a XML parser can determine with 100% accuracy whether a page is valid XHTML. For example, check this page for XHTML validity.
  • All pages on this site validate as CSS2.. This is not a determination; a CSS parser can determine with 100% accuracy whether a page is valid CSS. For example, check this page for CSS validity.
  • All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. <h1> tags are used for the page heading, <h2> tags for main headings, <h3> tags for subheadings, <li> tags for list items, et cetera.
